Why organ meats?

Organ meats are the most nutritionally dense food in the world.

Liver, specifically, is the most nutrient dense organ meat with powerful amounts of Vitamin A.

For most of history, our human ancestors consumed meat and organs out of necessity and to survive. Organ meats were often more readily available than muscle meats because their strong flavors and textures were deemed less desirable. To survive, our ancestors were often desperate to get any food that they could. Out of desperation to eat anything that they could, our ancestors would happily eat the whole animal for food to minimize waste and ensure maximum nutrition.

Humans are now part of a world where we have food readily available to us at all times. Although the desperate search for food is no longer with us felt by our ancestors, the food we do consume can be unhealthy with no nutritional value, causing disease, malnutrition, and a variety of ailments. At First Light Farms, we value the importance of how our ancestors ate. We process our wagyu, venison, and elk from nose to tail not out of desperation to survive like our ancestors, but with pride and sustainability in mind. Unlike our ancestors, humans now know that organ meats are powerful sources of essential nutrients not found in muscle meats or other parts of the animal.

Some of the key benefits of consuming organ meats include:

  • Nutrient Density: Organ meats are highly nutritious and contain a wide range of vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients. They are particularly rich in nutrients like vitamin B12, iron, zinc, and copper, which are vital for various bodily functions including energy production, immune system support, and red blood cell formation.
  • Unique Nutrients: Organ meats often contain nutrients that are not as prevalent in other foods. For example, liver is an excellent source of vitamin A, riboflavin, and folate, while heart is rich in CoQ10, a powerful antioxidant that plays a role in cellular energy production.
  • Bioavailability: Nutrients in organ meats are often more bioavailable compared to synthetic supplements. This means that the body can absorb and utilize these nutrients more effectively from natural sources like organ meats compared to isolated vitamin supplements.
  • Traditional Wisdom: Many traditional cultures around the world have long recognized the value of organ meats for their health benefits. These practices have been passed down through generations, suggesting that there is wisdom in consuming a variety of animal parts for optimal health.
  • Sustainability: Emphasizing the consumption of organ meats can contribute to more sustainable food practices, as it promotes using the entire animal and reduces food waste.

Although organ meats are nutrient-rich and uniquely beneficial, some prefer not to consume them because of their distinct flavors and textures. However, that’s exactly why First Light Farms created organ meat supplements.

Supplementing with individual vitamins may provide some benefits, especially in cases where there are specific deficiencies or dietary restrictions. However, supplementing with whole foods like organ meats offers a more complex and balanced combination of nutrients, which may interact synergistically to support overall health. It’s important to consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian before making significant dietary changes or starting any supplementation regimen.

Great stuff!

I received this just over a week ago. A bit early but I noticed I have a little more energy and less fatigue. My acne has started clearing up too. So far, so good.

Feeling great!

Elk ***** Complex are giving me all the nutrients that I’ve been missing in my diet and I feel great! The pills have no flavor, no after taste or bad burps and did not upset my stomach at all. Thank you giving me the alternative to Elk ***** nutrients.
